We got my 8 year old daughter a Tick Talk watch a year and a half ago and we are so pleased we did. It has been a great watch/phone for her. We weren't ready to get her an actual phone, but we wanted a way to stay in touch with her. This provided exactly that. I really like how we get to pick who she receives calls from. She messages and talks to grandparents and relatives as well. I like being able to send her to a friend's house and know she can always get a hold of me and vise versa. It's been a great purchase that I would recommend. When our youngest gets a little older, we will get one for her too.

We LOVE our TickTalk watch! Our 11 year old has been asking for a phone so he play with his neighborhood friends, ride his bike, and practice independence. We chose this device because of the low monthly fee, the opportunity to call/text, the GPS tracking, and the fact that there are no apps or games to distract our child. We love the option to set reminders and his teacher was thrilled to see a reminder pop up alerting him that it was time to read a book. We recommend TickTalk to all of our friends and plan to purchase one for our daughter in the future.

Is this watch good, it DEPENDS. It depends on your carrier (I'm on TMobile btw), your location, the buildings you will be in most of the time. To give you an example, just on cell phone carriers some complain T-mobile doesn't work good in this city or this area and the same for ATT. That will be the same case for this watch depending.
So for me, the watch is good when she's not in school and bad when she is in school. My daughter is fairly young, so I usually only have her wear the watch on weekends and when she has field trips during school.
As for the features of the watch:
Pros: firewall is good, interface is good, I like there are no games, I like the reminders, remote control and do not disturb functions, I like there is a way to call quickly and easily 911 from the watch.
Cons: Can't send video from watch to parent, if a function is disabled - they don't remove the button on the watch, I wish when the child texts the parent it would go through normal sms on phone and not require the app.

We love using the TickTalk for our 10 and 12 year old kids. They can bike around the neighborhood and we can check in with where they are, call, and text them. Before we had to ask each neighbor if they’d seen our kids and now it’s really easy to get in touch with their TickTalk. Definitely recommended for this age.

Great peace of mind without the distraction of battery-draining games. We bought the Tick Talk 3 for my 8-year-old daughter at Christmas time. It is exactly what I wanted for her. Due to hybrid schedules at her school because of Covid-19, I had a few different people picking her up. I wanted a way for her to contact myself and those people. This worked great! I love that I can silence her watch during school hours and set it to be available immediately after school. I also love that she can connect fully with those we've intentionally connected with and with those whose numbers I've only entered into the app she can only make voice calls. This has allowed her to have emergency contacts who she's not tempted to chat with often. I am pleased that the watch is not loaded with games. I wanted her to have safe and secure communication, not more screen time. The location on the watch has been very accurate. The watch must be comfortable because she's never complained about wearing it. Sadly, it's so comfortable that she accidentally wore it in the pool. Now I need to replace it. I don't feel the need to research like I usually do and be sure I'm replacing it with the best. I will be choosing this same watch. No question about it. We are thrilled with the peace of mind and access to communicate that the Tick Talk gives!!!

I purchased 2 watch bundles during the Kickstarter campaign. Communication was good and received the items, as expected. Watch is a little bulky but works pretty well. The kids like them. Within a month, the watch band broke on 1 watch. The way the band connects to the body is a little odd; it can't be laid flat and it's not obvious if you can even replace the band. I don't think it's a very good design. On a previous kids' smartwatch we replaced the band several times and never had an issue. In this case, the connection point broke into pieces, not just the band or pin. I contacted TickTalk about a replacement. It has been almost 3 weeks and I still don't have a replacement; I'm told it has shipped. Every email would go 1-2 days before getting a response. I tried the chat on the site with no response. I was able to talk to a person when I called. Overall, extremely disappointed in the service. This was a very simple transaction; most companies could have handled it in a couple of days. Waiting days for responses to email simply isn't acceptable.

Best phone watch for kids. I searched for a watch phone for my son for a few months and tried a couple other brands before we ultimately returned them and bought the TickTalk 4. None of the other watch phones compare to the TickTalk 4 watch! The APP, parental controls, and customization features on the TickTalk 4 watch are so much better and more user friendly then the others. We have had the TickTalk 4 for 2 weeks now and so far we have loved it! My son actually enjoys this watch and wants to wear it each day. He likes listening to the music and being able to send messages to the approved contacts. The TickTalk 4 actually blocks spam calls and texts unlike the others we tried. The customer service is very friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this watch phone for anyone who isn't ready to give their child a regular phone but still needs a safe and reliable way to contact them at school or other activities!

We decided to upgrade to a TickTalk4 because my son's TickTalk3 died at 18 months. Even though that's not a great lifespan for an electronic, I found it useful to call my 10 y/o son to coordinate pick-ups/drop-offs. So far the TickTalk4 experience has been smooth. It was easy to set-up and program. My son loves the radio and podcast option. The photos are definitely better quality than the older version's. It's still feels as bulky as TickTalk3 but it also feels sturdy (i.e. it could handle a few drops or falls).

3.5 this watch is aesthetically pleasing. Once you get the hang of it, and learn what the symbols are for, it's fairly easy to use. The parental app has lots of features and child safety tools, and can have multiple admins and users for the same watch... The location function is wireless network based, and not gps. It probably wouldn't work where gps signals were available, but data signals weren't available. This also makes it a little less accurate. Only preset text messages can be sent from the watch, but you can use the parental app to add your own preset available texts. The watch blocks text messages that were not sent from the parental app, even from phone numbers where the app is installed. The battery charger is proprietary, and a replacement had a markup compared to generic chargers and cables. Mine only came with a cable and not a 10 watt charger.

Both my daughters have a tick talk watch and it has been great for our family. They can only contact us and select family members and friends so they aren't on a phone all day long. It has been a lifesaver when they walk home from school or have a sleepover- bc I can check in. My daughters can Facetalk and text to each other, we have a family group chat as well. The new tick talk 4 watch has really good cameras. My daughters love to send me the photos they shoot via the chat. They do a lot of selfies, photos and videos. What surprised me is the quality of the photos, clear and nice, no grainy or blurry.

So far, so good. The watch arrived and setup was relatively straightforward. I am a techie so that helped me navigate updating the OS and configuring the account for the SIM card. The only reason I dinged the product one star is the video calling function is a little buggy. When we tried it out there were a couple times my wife answered on her phone but the watch didn't register that the call was picked up. The reception was only one bar *But* that is probably because of our cellular coverage at our house. We have had issues with non Verizon networks here so I am not penalizing the watch for that. Build quality is great, usability is pretty good, charger magnet seems to connect well. I will update the review when I am several months in. "

I also don’t like that I have to turn on the watch to be able to know I finished my steps goal. I feel that this watch should be able to take videos. I like that the watch can edit pictures and can play music. I also like that it has a calendar and can make calls, but when I set stop watch and then turn the watch off and turn it back I always find out the stop watch stoped.

Got the watch for my 10 year olds birthday 10 days ago and the watch band broke but they won't replace the band only because it has the antenna built into it. So I did what any dad would do called b.s. and took it off. Definitely no antenna just rubber that was molded. Apparently that voids warranty and it cost a $100 to repair. Do not recommend this company at all.

When my child sends me messages from the watch I often don't receive notification of receiving the message unless I have the app open on my phone. It seems to be very sporadic, sometimes providing a notification, other times not. This is very frustrating as I purchased this as a means for him to communicate with me. It's not user-friendly at all to have to frequently open the application throughout the day to see if your child has reached out. So far Tick Talk support has told me to update the app after I already confirmed I'm on the latest version. My child really likes the watch but I'm begining to wonder if it's a dud.

The set up process has me confused. I'm not sure I did it correctly. I can't figure out how to add my wife and my phone number so our daughter can easily call us. I can't figure out how to track the watch's location. Also, the size of the watch is disappointing. It would look huge on an adult wrist. Not sure my 5 year old daughter will be willing to lug it around on her small wrist.

Watch has condensation under camera lenses that make them unusable in humid environments. Response I got from support was to "stop using the watch for a few days and let it dry out". That doesnt help when the humidity is still high and the condensation comes right back once you use the watch outside again.

Pretty good device. My son just loves to wear it everyday. Good quality voice messages and positioning is quick and quite accurate. We are able to see where he is on his way home, and when he is out on field trips. Given the price range, it’s a little pity that the music function is not available for international customers. Other than that, everything works fine.

Exactly what I've been looking for. So let me start by saying I’ve been wanting a watch like this for my son (6yo) for a couple years ago- but couldn’t pull the trigger on the price… so I tried a couple knock off watches, and they were a total waste of money. So with prime day I decided to finally just get it- and I’m so glad that I did! We’ve only had it for like 24 hours, so I can’t speak to longevity of it- but out of the box, it’s perfect! It did take me a bit of playing around to really understand it. But I love that he can call me with just the push of a button, and that I can keep the gps tracking on! My son loves to play at different friends houses- but usually forgets to tell me when they switch houses, which means I spend an hour calling each friends parents, trying to figure out where he went off to… not going to happen anymore! I also love that there are no games, so little sister isn’t jealous, and the battery won’t be killed just by playing. I love that you choose the numbers that are allowed to call, and it blocks all other calls (which was a HUGE problem with our knock off watches, they would get 20+ spam calls a day) It feels very sturdy, I can’t imagine it breaking. And the sim that came in the packaging was soooo easy to set up! Took about 10 minutes to activate the SIM card and sign up for monthly auto-payments ($10 a month). Solid product, I can’t think of a single thing it’s lacking! And now this mama is feeling much better about letting him have the kind of childhood I had as a kid (you know, where kids use to be able to go to the park without someone calling CPS on them)!

The quality of the hardware seems to be very high. The watch feels sturdy and well made, and the response time of the screen and apps is good. It is a bit large for a 7-year-old's wrist, but I know that anything smaller would cost twice as much, so that's a good compromise. I would have liked a choice of wrist straps, though. The plastic one is a bit stiff and sticks to the skin when my child sweats. As for the apps, the Tick Talk 4 is responsive and fast. The question is whether it will stay that way after a number of updates, or will it inevitably slow down as new features are added. I also like the radio app, even though I don't think it'll get much use. Regarding the phone app, this is where it needs improvement. As of version 4.3.3, there are some critical features missing, and other features are half-baked. For example, the Do Not Disturb mode cannot be remotely overridden by the parent, so if in an emergency or a simple schedule change, there is no way to contact your child when DnD is enabled. The location service is too unreliable. For a product which primary purpose is tracking your child, this feature still needs work. The GPS data is accurate, but the watch only seems to be able to use GPS outdoors. Most of the time, it falls back to WiFi location, which is incredibly inaccurate as it bounces from state to state, sometimes thousands of miles away. Perhaps the database that Tick Talk uses for wifi location is out of date, or there is no logic built in that combines cellular, GPS, and wifi data. The parent app could have a feature to force GPS, and if not available, cellular tower triangulation. But there really should be a method for all three to work simultaneously, like a mobile phone does. Another thing that is missing (or I just can't find it), how to access photos taken on the watch. There's a TCloud online storage, but you have to manually initiate the backup, and I don't even know where I can access this TCloud anyway. So if the watch gets lost or stolen, I presume all photos are lost if they were not recently backed up. There should be a scheduled automatic backup feature and an ability to view photos on the parent app. I also have a few feature suggestions: Find My Phone feature for when the watch itself is lost inside the house. Maybe a way to override sound settings and beep loudly. A notification if the watch has been taken off. Perhaps after A period of no movement in the activity tracker. A more robust messaging app. Perhaps additional animated GIFs? Kids love GIFs, and an animation sometimes conveys more than A sentence can.

On a side note I have not given upon the watch I just need time to call the help line to see if they can possibly help with the issues I am having .

Kids love it! We love the new watch - Much better than the others we've tried. We've had it for a week already and it has been wonderful!My son loves some of the features such as the dual cameras, music and the pedometer. He likes to send me voice messages, emojis and feels that's so cool! The charging dock is A PLUS! This watch has exceeded my expectations! The GPS location is pretty exact! You can use cellular data or connect it to Wifi so wherever he goes he's connected. Which is the important thing for me. Now that school is out I am able to stay connected to him while allowing him to be more independent and go to the park and bike rides without me. It's easy for him to navigate and he caught on to it pretty quick! And the watch is versatile so as he grows settings can be changed to give him more freedom, ie the dialpad and ability to call out. Its a great watch for kids but has a few flaws I'd love to see addressed. For one, the screen isn't as responsive to touch as I'd like. Sometimes you have to press the buttons on the screen several times for them to respond. Also, there's no way for the kids to text you back. They either have to use a canned response (which rarely match what they want to say), or they have to use an audio message which is annoying to have to waste time listening to. Texting is a must these days for any kid. Very shocked they don't have that option.

My daughter was given a Tick Talk 3 but because it was used, I could not get the app to work on my phone. She could dial my number, and I could call her but no texts or contacts could be added. She loved it so much that I ordered her the Tick Talk 4 so we could have all of the features including texts, GPS, and music. We received the new 4 but there are no directions with it. I was able to get the app on my phone to add contacts ect but we have still not been able to send messages, only calls. I also wish we could change the color of the watch band like on the 3.

The GPS works pretty accurate, I can see their location. They can contact us in a second, they can call family and friends. We can do video chat, messaging, they can share the photos they shoot from the watch. We really are pleased with the watches. I tell everyone about them, when they talk about getting their kids a "real" phone this is enough of a real phone without them getting into trouble. With the tick talk they can't get in trouble for using them during class either because you can set the in-class mode. I used the Redpocket sim card it provides, and it works great. The app is also super easy to use, perform consistently. It comes with tons of awesome parental control settings on the App. On top of that, there’s no game on the watch. Though the price of Ticktalk 4 is on the high-side, I feel it is worthy. It is really a watch with good quality in all aspects of features that I wanted. I highly recommend this.

My 5 year old is obsessed with his "smart-watch".. in fact "smart-watch" is probably every 10th word out of his mouth. He has had it a few weeks now, and the novelty has yet to wear off. He loves feeling so grown up, having such cool features, and I love that I didn't have to add to my cell phone bill or give him the ability to call people from his watch. very colorful and awesome design, our family very like this watch, he can call our family anytime, very recommended.

This watch has been great so far. Sound and video quality are great. Wish there was an option to setup the Wifi using the phone app as opposed to on the watch itself. Almost impossible to type in the password using such tiny boxes for letters/numbers. Other than that our kid loves it.

I am located in New Zealand, so it was a big decision to purchase a watch out of the US due to cost and warranty should it need repair. My concerns were soon put to rest, the watch had a charging issue on day 2 and after contacting the customer care team It was on its way back to be looked at. They fixed the fault, returned it FedX priority along with a free charging dock and a set of chums to say sorry for the inconvenience. Now that is what customer service is all about.
