TickTalk 3.0 - FAQ

Q: How do I know if my TickTalk 3 is ONLINE or OFFLINE?

A: If your TickTalk 3 is properly connected to cellular data your watch face along the top will have at least one bar and the oval connection icon in the middle should be highlighted in white.

**T-Mobile customers will see either a 2G, 3G, or 4G stamp along the top as well. The area in which you live determines the strength of the cellular data.

If you have your TickTalk 3 connected to your local WiFi network with a connected SIM card your watch face along the top will have at least one bar, you will see the WiFi icon and the oval connection icon in the middle should be highlighted in white.

If your SIM card is not working or you are not using one but are connected to WiFi, then there will not be any bars but you should see the WiFi icon and the oval icon must be highlighted in white.

If the oval connection icon is in grey than you are not connected to WiFi or cellular data.

We will continue to try our best to provide all of our customers with the best support we can. Our team is standing by Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.

Q: Can I go swimming with TickTalk 3?

A: No, the IP67 waterproof technology of any electronic product is not designed for swimming.  The technology will prevent damage to the watch if it is briefly dropped into water or becomes wet temporarily through other means.

Q: What does the waterproof IP67 rating mean?

A: The IP67 rating means the TickTalk 3 is protected from dust and capable of withstanding water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, we do not recommend wearing the watch while taking a shower, diving and swimming, as the waterproof parts of the watch may age over time, resulting in reduced water resistance protection.

Q: Does TickTalk 3 have a GEO Fence?

A: No, TickTalk 3 uses a Wi-Fi locator as the priority locator to show the location, but the accuracy of the Wi-Fi locator will be 100- 500 feet. Therefore, if you set up a Fence for your child, it may provide you with false alarms. With the TickTalk 3, you can always locate your child and give your child a video call to confirm if he/she is safe and happy.

Q: How is the locator accuracy of TickTalk 3?

A: Due to the 4G reception, the locator accuracy of TickTalk 3 is much better than that of the past 2 generations. We have adjusted the locator algorithm and it is easy to get GPS satellite positioning for outdoors. However, since it will uses a lot of battery energy to search for satellite signals, we still use the Wifi locator as the priority which can save more battery. The accuracy of the Wifi locator is within 100-500 feet.

Q: Can TickTalk 3 block calls from strangers?

A: Yes, you’ll need to turn on the Firewall through the TickTalk App. This will block all phone calls from strangers, allowing only the preset contacts to call through.

A: The strap can fit 7.5 inches wrist. If your child's wrist is bigger than that, you can buy an adult watch strap with a width of 22mm to replace the current one.

Q: Does TickTalk 3 come with games?

A: At present time, we have not developed any games for the watch, the main reason is that the watch screen is too small, and the battery is limited, too.

Q: Can TickTalk 3 listen to music?

A: Not right now. But we will add this feature in the future, and all you will have to do is to update the firmware and the APP. Once TickTalk 3 becomes available with the music feature, you’ll get a notification from the App for the upgrade.

Q: What is the main differences between TickTalk 3 and other brands of watches?

A: The main research and development for our TickTalk 3 is done in the United States. We offer our customers the most user-friendly APP and incorporate the latest technology for our watch’s hardware and operating system. At present time, most of the kids smart watch phones are developed and designed by Chinese startups, and they usually come with a generic App and hard to operate interface. These companies typically don't have U.S.-based customer service and have never done localized testing in the US and improvement, so the user experience is not good. The most important point is that in the production process, our company is working with several big mobile phone manufacturers to go through more than 80 rigorous inspection procedures. Our defective rate is relatively low, but most other brands completely ignore these tests. Instead, they will just do several basic tests such as a batteries phone call test to reduce the manufacturing cost and sell at a very low price in exchange for market share.

Q: The camera of TickTalk 3 is 2MP. Will the photos look blurred?

A: TickTalk’s screen is small, so 2MP resolution is enough.

Q: Can kids transfer the photos and videos to parents?

A: TickTalk 3 allows the kids to save or send the photos through the Messaging Center. They can shoot a video and save it on their watch but it’s not allowed to send the video through the messaging center currently.

Q: Can TickTalk 3 adjust to Daylight Saving Time?

A: Our TickTalk 3 has auto time zone system, it distinguishes between different time zones based on the operator's signal. If the operators in some countries do not provide NITZ (Network Identity and Time Zone)service, you can manually adjust the time in the settings of the watch.

Q: Does TickTalk 3 have a vibration mode?

A: Yes, we added a vibrator to the watch. You can select the two modes of Vibration + Sound or Vibration Only in the settings.

Q: Is the screen of TickTalk 3 easily broken?

A: No. We improved the design of the screen, now the screen is wrapped around the plastic housing, so even if it were to fall to the ground accidentally, the screen would not touch the ground directly and be shattered.

Q: How long of a voice message can you make on the TickTalk 3?

A: Each voice message length is up to 60 seconds.

Q: I sometimes can’t receive the voice message from the TickTalk 2. Is there any improvement for the 3?

A: Yes,  we did a great improvement for the Instant Messaging System. Now the text messages, voice messages, emoji and images will be received immediately after you send. Just in case you’re somewhere that has weak reception and can't send or receive messages at the time, once you are back in a good area it will resend the message and receive the messages you may have missed.

Q: Is TickTalk 3's video calling function smooth?

A: Very smooth especially you're connected the watch to the Wi-Fi. We have customized the software for this function and our server is in the United States that will make image transmission fast and smooth. Our engineering team is working 24/7 to make sure we can fix any issue or bug immediately.

Q: Does TickTalk 3's video calling feature consume a lot of battery?

A: Yes, the video call will consume more battery and it may cause the watch to heat up. We set a 3 minute usage time limit for video calls, and the system will cut off the video call automatically, If your priority is not the battery, you can make another video call again after the 3 minutes cut off limit.

Q: Can TickTalk 3 call 911?

A: Yes, we made a shortcut by pressing the Power button once and then pressing the emergency call button twice to call 911 directly.

Q: How to maximize your TickTalk 3 battery lifespan?

A: 1. Do not allow the battery to fully deplete.
When you notice the TickTalk battery is low, plug it in as soon as possible. If you consistently allow the battery to discharge past its depth of discharge, over time your watch battery will degrade and won’t hold it's charge.
2. Don't leave your battery depleted for long periods of time.
When the watch battery is left dead for long periods of time they risk entering a state of discharge. This will make it difficult for the battery to hold a charge in the future. Charge your TickTalk to 50% for long-term storage. The healthiest charge for a lithium ion battery seems to be about 50%. If you are going to store your TickTalk for an extended period, charge it to 50% before turning it off and storing it. This is easier on the battery than charging it to 100% or letting it drain to 0% before storage. If you think of it, turn the watch on every several months and top the battery up to 50%.
3. Avoid extreme temperatures.
Like many batteries, the TickTalk battery shouldn't be exposed to extreme heat or cold. Temperatures reaching over 95° F (35° C) can permanently damage the battery by decreasing it's capacity. Colder temperatures may temporarily decrease your battery's performance. The TickTalk 3 battery's comfort zone lies between 62° to 72° F (16° to 22° C).
