TickTalk 5 Features and Usage
What's new in TickTalk 5?
TickTalk 5 is now smaller and lighter, with enhanced water resistance. The wristband is more comfortable, and overall cellular signal reception has improved by approximately 20%. GPS accuracy has increased by about 10%, and the watch case is more durable. The messaging system now includes fun new GIFs, and the greeting cards have been updated to 3D animations. New privacy features include a requirement for confirmation on the watch during the first pairing to prevent unauthorized access, SOS 911 Calls and Alerts, watch low battery alerts and more.
How big is TickTalk 5's wristband?
The TickTalk 5 wristband is adjustable and can comfortably fit wrist sizes ranging from 4.7 inches to 6.7 inches. This flexibility makes it suitable for children of various ages and sizes.
What is the age range for TickTalk 5?
TickTalk 5 is designed for children aged 3-12.
Is TickTalk 5 Waterproof?
TickTalk 5 comes with IP67 water resistance to protect from minor splashes and spills. While IP67 in a laboratory setting can allow for submersion in up to 3-feet of still water for 30 minutes, we do not recommend wearing the devicewhen bathing, swimming, or participating in other water-related activities dueto the various water pressures within these categories. IP67 rating works bestwhen the sealing ring on the protective outer casing has minimal damage. Thevariability of water resistance can be affected over time due to normal wearand tear along with exposure to different environments. Assuming your device isin good condition with no apparent damage or deformation to the sealing ring, and the back lid cover has not been improperly installed after inserting yourSIM card, TickTalk 5 should not be damaged if it encounters splashing, rain, orif minor water exposure. Our Lifetime Limited Warranty does not cover from water exposure, but we do offer an ExtendedWarranty option to offer protection in the case water exposure does occur.
Has the water resistance feature of the TickTalk 5 been improved?
Yes, the TickTalk 5 has improved water resistance compared to previous models. It features an IP67 rating, which means it is protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 3-feet deep for up to 30 minutes. This upgrade makes the TickTalk 5 more durable and suitable for everyday activities, including splashes, rain, and brief water exposure. However, it is not recommended to wear it while swimming or bathing, as fast-moving water can compromise the water resistance.
Can I change the wristband of TickTalk 5?
Yes, you can change the wristband. Since our antenna is installed in the watch strap, we highly recommend that you purchase our watch strap and take advantage of the free replacement service, which includes shipping costs. We do have resources that will help guide you if you would rather replace the watch band on your own.
Is the TickTalk 5 case easy to break?
No, the TickTalk 5 case is made from reinforced plastic, making it significantly more durable than the TickTalk 4.
How's the TickTalk 5's GPS accuracy?
The GPS antenna reception has improved by approximately 10%, making the location tracking more accurate than in TickTalk 4.
TickTalk 5 utilizes three different technologies to provide the most accurate location tracking by automatically selecting the best available signal:
1. Wi-Fi Location: The watch first attempts to locate the nearest Wi-Fi devices, including both public and private networks, to quickly determine its location. The accuracy in this mode ranges from 100 to 500 feet.
2. GPS Signal: If Wi-Fi signals are weak or unavailable, the watch switches to GPS tracking, offering a higher accuracy range of 10 to 300 feet. However, GPS can consume more battery and may not work well indoors or in areas with obstructions.
3. Cellular Tower Signal: When neither Wi-Fi nor GPS signals are available, TickTalk 5 uses the nearest cellular tower signal for location tracking. The accuracy in this mode can vary widely, from 500 feet to 20 miles, depending on the distance to the cellular tower.
This multi-technology approach ensures that TickTalk 5 can provide reliable location tracking in various environments.
Why doesn't TickTalk 5 have a Geofence feature?
Geofence functionality can be unreliable due to environmental factors. For example, GPS signals may not be available indoors or in areas with obstructions, and Wi-Fi-based location tracking may have inaccuracies. These factors can lead to false location deviation alerts.
What are the main differences between TickTalk 5 and other brands of children's smartwatch products?

This results in advanced features and reliable connectivity. TickTalk's rapid software iteration ensures the smartwatch is always up-to-date and user-friendly, with fewer bugs. How do contacts message the Ticktalk 5 watch?
To prevent children from receiving spam or scam messages, only parent-invited app users can send messages to the child using the TickTalk 5 watch. The parent admin user has the ability to invite new app users through the app and can assign them either Full Access, which grants the same permissions as the admin, or Limited Access, which allows only messaging and video calling.
If parents only want certain users, like grandparents, to have voice call access, you can simply add these contacts directly to the phone book contacts in the TickTalk app. This ensures a controlled and secure communication environment for the child, safeguarding them from unsolicited messages.
Can I set up a group chat with our entire family if we only have one TickTalk watch?
Yes, you can set up a group chat with your entire family even if you only have one TickTalk watch. The parent admin user can invite family members and other trusted contacts to join the TickTalk app. These invited users can then participate in group chats through the Secure Messaging Center in the app. The parent can assign different levels of access to each user, such as Full Access or Limited Access, depending on the permissions they want to grant.
In this way, the whole family can communicate with the child using the TickTalk watch, sharing messages and staying connected.
How do I invite other people to pair with the TickTalk 5 watch?
To invite others to pair with the TickTalk 5 watch, first ensure they download and sign up for the TickTalk app. As an admin user, you can then invite new users directly from the app. The primary guardian will receive a request to authorize these new users and can assign them either Full Access or Limited Access. This setup ensures secure and controlled communication for your child. For more info, please watch the set up videos.
